A new generation! Design of multi-purpose vessel approved by DNVTime£º2024-04-17 On April 17, the 12,600-ton multi-purpose vessel OCTOPUS 12.6 (HL500) and 12,000-ton multi-purpose vessel OCTOPUS 12, developed and designed by China Shipbuilding Group Shanghai Ship Research and Design Institute, were officially awarded the Norwegian Classification Society (DNV) Approved in Principle (AIP) certificate. It marks the arrival of a new green and intelligent replacement of the 12,000 ton multi-purpose ship of the ship Yard. The two vessels, which were jointly completed by the Ship Institute, DNV and Germany's Toepfer Transport over a period of eight months based on the concept of forward development and ship shape platform, meet the requirements of the Energy Efficiency Design Index (EEDI) stage 3 and meet the Tier III standard for nitrogen oxide emissions. Equipped with the Intelligent Energy Efficiency Management System (DSS-E) in the DOSS® system developed by the Ship Institute, the two - or four-stroke main engine can be selected, or methanol can be used as fuel.
OCTOPUS 12.6 (HL500) has greatly improved its performance index compared with the previous generation of 12,500-ton multi-purpose ship F500 (2014). It adopts a single cargo hold design and is equipped with two 250-ton deck crane, the main size and lifting capacity are basically the same, and the superstructure is optimized from the original arrangement at the tail to that at the bow. It can obtain a better view of the driving control, increase the deck cargo area by about 40%, reduce fuel consumption by about 15%, and be more suitable for the loading of large engineering equipment. Compared with the previous generation of 12,000-ton multi-purpose ship (2004), OCTOPUS 12 is more compact in main dimensions, low in construction cost and good economy, equipped with two 80-ton deck crane, adopts the design of one large and one small cargo tank, the cargo tank capacity is further increased, the fuel consumption is reduced by about 56%, and it is more suitable for the loading of general cargo and bulk cargo. The OCTOPUS platform can well cover the 12,000-ton multi-purpose ship series, which not only helps shorten the overall construction cycle, but also helps customers quickly calculate construction costs. Based on the OCTOPUS 12.6 platform, the 149.9 meter long, 12,600 tons deadweight ship keeps the bow and tail unchanged, and can be expanded to OCTOPUS 12.6XL (extended version) - 159.9 meters long, 14,000 tons deadweight. It can also be expanded to the OCTOPUS 12.6XS (shortened version), which is 139.9 meters long and has a capacity of 11,100 tons. Based on the OCTOPUS 12 type platform, the 138.0 meter long, 12,000 tons load capacity ship can be expanded to OCTOPUS 12XS (shortened version) - 128.0 meters long, 10,700 tons load capacity. It is understood that as a global leader in the field of research and development and design of multi-purpose vessels, the OCTOPUS series multi-purpose vessels developed by the ship Institute have undertaken a total of nearly 400 design orders, and their market share is the world's leading. With excellent R & D and design capabilities, the various series OCTOPUS multi-purpose ship products developed by the ship Institute range from "small and beautiful" 3,500 tons ship type to "large and complete" 77,000 tons ship type, from conventional power to alternative fuel, the product spectrum covers nearly 40 types of ships. These include the multi-purpose vessel "OCTOPUS HL" (Heavy Lift) series, the General cargo ship "OCTOPUS G" (General cargo ship) series, the pulp and wood chip vessel "OCTOPUS W" (Woodchip) series, and the alternative fuel multi-purpose vessel "GREEN" OCTOPUS series and Intelligent multi-purpose ship iOCTOPUS (Intelligent). These ship types, with their flexible loading capacity, spacious deck loading area and superior economy, are favored by customers and have become the "star" ship types in the global shipping market. |
